TORONTO, August 8, 2016 — Women in Film & Television – Toronto (WIFT-T) is pleased to announce producer/director/writer Nadine Valcin as the recipient of the 2016 WIFT-T DGC Ontario Director Mentorship. The mentorship provides one emerging Canadian female director with a two-tiered approach to enriching both their business and creative acumen.
The first portion of the DGC Ontario Director Mentorship focuses on business training and guidance through one-on-one mentoring sessions with this year’s business mentor Christina Kubacki – Director of Acquisitions at Entertainment One Films Canada. The second phase of the mentorship will pair Nadine Valcin with DGC Ontario Director member and 2008 WIFT-T DGC Ontario Mentorship recipient, Dawn Wilkinson, who will guide her through various creative approaches. As the recipient of this mentorship, Nadine Valcin also receives a complimentary 2016 TIFF Industry pass.
The DGC Ontario Director Mentorship is a highly competitive and coveted opportunity. Nadine has shown perseverance and versatility in her work, creating a range of documentary and narrative films in both French and English.
